I am finished!!
Here are three photos of my latest completed icon. None of them turned out quite like I had hoped, although the icon did, praise God.
This is called "Tender Kissing". For me it has been a very emotional icon to write, as the wistful, loving, tender sadness is so present to me as a mother. This icon speaks to me in a very powerful way, and gives me courage to face the challenge and unspeakable joy of motherhood.
I hope to keep up the daily painting, and do a few more icons this summer. I am always inspired by these workshops to intensify my effort in this area. Maybe this time it will stick.
If anyone is wanting more info regarding a possible icon workshop, just email me and I'll give you more information. My addy is in the sidebar, near the top.
I think if you click on these photos you will get a closeup view. I will try to get better pictures later, but this was the best I could do tonight. As expected, I am exhausted and emotionally spent. I am going to watch a chick flick (Return to Me), have a good cry and get it out of my system, then back to regular life tomorrow.
Thanks for stopping by!

Oh! MPN! This is lovely! I am breathless when I look at this!
Look at Mother Mary's eyes! They are in such deep thought and the special embrace which she is giving. Yes!
This is how I have often felt while holding one of mine...often with butterflies inside as to how can I love you any more than I do as I hold you at this very moment...how can I protect you with every beat of my heart! This is what this speaks to me....and other things.
Even today, when I imagine still holding them physically in that way, I can still feel this way.
I know you have written something that will touch the hearts of every mother who visits. May I share this on my SincerelyMyThoughts in a few days?
Suzanne
Beautiful! Just beautiful! Do you sell your icons?
Very interested~
Renee, this is stunning. Y'know how I feel about your icons. This is just awesome!
You're exceptionally gifted and your icons must bring so much pleasure to those who are able to purchase them.
God Bless you!
Of course, Suzanne, share away. And thanks for the feedback. I have found myself in silent tears so many times while working on this and while looking at it later. Something about this one is really opening me up and causing my heart to ache.
And Cris, I haven't ever sold any icons, but I was thinking of doing a few more of this one to sell, I love it so much. So, I'll give it a go and see if I can do another with the same "life". It will be different somehow, as they are all unique, but I am looking forward to working on this again.
Deb, like I said, I haven't sold any yet. But I am entertaining the thought of making some prints, so that I could share my passion with more people. What say you about that?
I just tried to comment so if it went through, I apologize but please please make prints MPN! And have you always painted? And do you find the creative process to be full of all sorts of feelings. I have a great deal of anxiety and self doubt. But you've written a rich and mystical icon.
Beautiful! Thank you so much for posting the photos!
Yes! Sell prints...this one is powerful and will do much good!
Gorgeous! Congratulations!
Renee, there is so much depth in the Blessed Mother's eyes in your icon--something I can't say about many other Madonna and child works I've seen. It so purely portrays the feelings of a mother (in my inexperienced opinion)--there certainly is sorrow in her face, but there's also a peaceful joy in her eyes that I so appreciate. It's very comforting, really.
Thanks so much for all your help at the workshop these last two weeks!
Yes! Sell prints! This is so beautiful!
Breathtakingly beautiful. God has gifted you.
Mary Poppins NOT: From what I have seen from this Icon, I can rightly say that the Lord has touched your heart and guided your hand. God Bless.
I think that it's lovely!
MPN Did you see my post on my blog yet? Go see and read in the comment box what cheated wrote and also what I responded back with...hmmm...
God bless you, dear!
Renee, thanks for stopping by! The icon is absolutely stupendous, you have a wondrous gift!
Breathtakingly beautiful, and it does make you ache, doesn't it. I've just been reading a little book on the details regarding the original icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, and there is a little novena in the book where you contemplate one aspect of the icon every day for nine days. I can see many of the same details in your icon, and I'm sure it will be a blessing to all those who look upon it.
