A Question

Does anyones else hesitate to wash off the "wall art" by the hand of their youngest child? Every time I scrub it off, I wonder if that is the last one, and if having one little remnant of all the crayon I have scrubbed off walls wouldn't be an appreciated souvenir of "the good old days".

My mother kept one wall drawing, for oh I don't know how long now, but it was done by our youngest sibling and it was particularly cute. So, no, I guess you aren't alone.

The last time I left a wall drawing was when my daughter was 16. She drew a little picture with pencil on the wall of some animals. It was small and cute and rather well drawn. When we moved out of that house I just couldn't bring myself to wash it off so I didn't. About a year later dearest one and only daughter went back to that house for something and talked to the new occupants. The woman asked if only daughter had drawn that picture. Turns out when she painted the wall she couldn't bring herself to paint over it so it was still there.

Here's a little suggestion if you want to "keep" the wall art, but not particularly on your wall. Get out your camera and take a picture of it. You'll have it forever if you so choose! :)

I have a friend who had one wall in their older home family dining room where anyone who came over could take something and draw on it or sign something on it...it was neat...very unique. Well, they've moved and now in their beautiful family dining room that is part of their living area also, she has a wall used as a sort of bulletin board where family photos are up of everyone from grandparents down to the latest grandchildren and it is precious! Sooo, go for it! :)

My mom kept a handprint my younger brother left on the wall for years, and then had it cut out and that part of the wall replaced.

When I was 6 (1968) I took red paint and put it on the new paneling in the basement.
Part of it is still there and I wonder if my mom left it on purpose?
