Eureka!

As I am constantly feeding my addiction to thrift stores, I occasionally find some real treasures. I think I got the best ever today, which is a hand painted icon on silver of Our Lady of Czestochowa. It is gorgeous. And it was $1.61. She is already on my wall, looking over my kitchen. Someday maybe I'll take a photo of all the hand done Madonna's I have in my kitchen. I just had to tell someone about this!

That is wonderful! I love to find those kinds of gifts...sometimes I leave them for others to find because I wonder, but then, I also hate to leave them sitting there. Its hard to decide. I think some call out to us..."Take me home!" :)
Our chapel at the Mother of the Redeemer Farm just received a gift of this painting of our Lady recently and we had a special celebration and blessing for it there. My friend, who is from Poland was responsible for the farm getting this. Her parents still live there of course and it was a gift from them. I think they wanted this icon to be close to Grazyna, my friend and her two teenage girls who live here in the states with her. :)

Oh! I mean that her parents still live in Poland. I hope that makes more sense now! :)

Most of my clothes come from thrift stores but no one seems to notice. And man, what a gift you got. I am a tad envious even. Good for you with that icon. And yes, as ukok says, take a picture already

Hey, I'm JEALOUS!
Rob and I always "rescue" religious things like that when we see them in Thrift Shoppes's too! We have SO much stuff like that - but not a silver painted Czestochowa! Whoo hoo!
Yes, do take a phicture!

We'll be going to the Homeschool Curriculum Fair in D.C. next weekend (June 9) and we found out there are 19 Salvation Army Stores in the vicinity.

Who needs to see the Washington Monument? or the Smithsonia?

We're SICK people.

;-)

Please do post pictures of your Madonnas, with notes to tell us about their stories (where you got them, why they're special, etc.)
