Do the students start with that base picture (no face, hands etc.) already there and continue to paint? Very interesting. What a wonderful talent and hobby they are learning. Wish I were there too.
No, Micki, the students began with a blank, white board. It is a birch board, with many layers of gesso, a layer of linen, then many more layers of gesso. The pattern is traced on with carbon paper, then the base colors are layed in. I will do a more in depth post about the process later this week. Thank you for your interest!
